Wow I'm so glad I randomly came across this. I was diagnosed a yr ago but my son has been dealing w/ this since the diagnosis for him at age 5. It was a real struggle to deal w/ ADHD not diagnosed until my 30's .

I deal w/ alot of stigma from family & friends. That's been something I struggle w/ but anyways Thanks I look forward to future podcast's

Thank you, I am looking forward to tuning in to your program every week. MY daughter is 7 and she has ADHD along with many other disabilities. I am hoping to better understand this disability and learn to help all of us, as a family, deal with the everyday situations that arise.

Dr Handelmen,
Thank you for creating this podcast! I have a young son, age 7 with ADHD. I am looking forward to hearing your information, insights and suggestions. I am also an elementary teacher in the Niagara area, so I hope to apply what I learn in the classroom as well! It is a fabulous idea!

I applaude your effort sincerely. Keep up the great work and thank you for using the TV/media as a way to get information to parents and adults. It is much more interesting than just reading about it. I understand you might feel that you can not compete with the visual impact of Hollywood, however you are on the right track.
Yes, I agree also that there are too few Child/Adolescent pyschiatrists overall. I went from a doc who wouldn't visit my son in the ER when we brought him in for depression, the next told us the very opposite of what the scientific reasearch told us and was generally very intimidating to our son, and the third yelled at him for fidgiting in the waiting room around 5 pm. We finally found a great doc both boarded in Pysch and in Neurology. I think here in NJ it's a 800 to 1 ratio. As a coordinator for a local CHADD chapter I am very excited that your venue exists and it's a pleasure to pass this info along to everyone I can reach. Please encourage the professional staff in your circles to explore the CHADD website as it is a wonderful resource for all things AD/HD. I am not sure if Canada has local CHADD chapters, but I bet Trish White knows. She is the head of Volunteer Coordinators nationally. Her email is trishwhite@chadd.org The more professional members there they are the more parents and adults will use us for info and support. Good Luck and Best Wishes for continued success. If you are ever in the Central NJ area and would like to speak at our group meeting please contact me!

Dr. Kenny,

I'm so glad I saw you mentioned on the ADDitude site. I watched your first pod cast and found it informative and also it is comforting to know that you are out there helping parents of children with ADD/ADHD. My son is borderline and for the most part is doing well. He is a great kid
. We of course have our challenges but we work together as a family to overcome them. I look forward to your next pod cast. Thank you for taking your time to help parents like myself better understand and be advocates for our children at home and at school. And thank you too for helping us feel like we're not alone in this and that ADD/ADHD is real.

Sincerely,

Karen C.
